Pastoral Counseling
For over 20 years, Charis Foundation has placed emphasis on providing assessment
and pastoral counseling for ministers and their families as well as for lay men and women and members of the church. Working to encourage health and wellness in the lives of ministers and members of the church allows Charis to create deep and lasting positive impact on the portrayal of Christ in our community.
Admitting that there are areas of struggle in your life and seeking pastoral counseling takes courage. It is not a sign of weakness or failure, rather it is a step toward taking full responsibility for your life and making a decision to initiate movement toward healing and wholeness; it is a step toward embracing the full potential of your purpose in this life.

These are stressful times, and many of our ministers, lay men and woman, and church members are feeling the impact of difficult change within our community. There is great need apparent throughout the American Church of today. For example, in one recent survey, pastors revieled that:
-80% believe their work is negatively affecting their families.
-50% feel unable to meet the demands of their work.
-90% feel they were not adequately trained to cope with the demands placed upon them.
-37% have been involved in inappropriate sexual behavior.
-70% have a lower self-image than when they entered the ministry.
Many ministers, lay men and woman and members of the church are hurting, many more are exhausted and depressed, and still others are experiencing "burnout."

Communication within the church body can often be ineffective as power struggles and personality conflicts threaten to tear churches and their leaders apart. The providers at Charis Foundation Inc. have the ability, training and experience to help reduce stress, improve relationships, enhance strengths and improve upon weaknesses. We place emphasis on encouraging growth and positive change in all areas of your life.
Ministers, lay men and woman and church members are each unique individuals attempting to navigate through our own histories, relationships, and understanding of life while striving to meet a call to share our faith with others. With this call comes an important committment to become all we have the capacity to be and to strive for the reflection of health, love and mercy in all that we do.
