Therapy for Children
Providers at Charis Foundation are well-trained and experienced in individual and family therapy for children with a wide variety of presenting problems. Areas of special interest include adjustment difficulties, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, behavioral problems, depression, developmental challenges, low self-esteem, social difficulties, split-family situations, and trauma exposure.
We work with parents and their children to identify each child's unique developmental profile and to establish a treatment plan that will target areas of difficulty and enhance areas of strength.
We utilize an age-approriate, play-based, relational therapy (DIR/Floortime therapy; developed by Stanley Greenspan) to encourage growth and provide support as each child strives to improve upon their developmental challenges and build upon their strengths.
Family involvement is an important part of child therapy as our providers work with parents in effort to create a home environment that facilitates and supports success of therapeutic interventions.
Our providers place emphasis on helping parents gain the skills necessary to encourage healthy development in their children, advocate for their child’s educational best-interest, reduce problematic behaviors, and cope effectively with family relational difficulties.
